In Florida, accreditation of schools/programs is entirely voluntary and is achieved by adopting and maintaining the academic standards prescribed by an independent association. We, as a private school, will adhere to guidelines laid forth in the Florida Statutes (s.1002.42) as a ministry of Miracle Vision Tabernacle Outreach..
We have been awarded Quality Status by ACE and therefore must meet certain standards as prescribed by ACE International. We are also accredited by the Florida Coalition of Christian Private Schools Accreditation, Inc. Our school is registered with the Department of Education and our teachers meet all DOE requirements for staff at schools receiving scholarship funding.
All Vision teachers regularly attend training provided by Pensacola Christian College and/or Accelerated Christian Education. In addition, all teachers meet the DOE requirements for staff at schools receiving scholarship funding.
Learning to Read (ABEKA)
We believe that the basis of learning is being able to read. Research has also found that using a phonetic approach to reading instruction is the most reliable method of teaching reading to most students. For this reason, we use the ABEKA curriculum in our K5 and 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade classes.
In an intensive phonics-first approach children learn to read using these steps:
Recognize the short vowels.
Recognize the consonants.
Blend consonant and vowel together.
Recognize consonant and one vowel words.
Recognize long vowels and sound two-vowel words.
Read special sounds.
This curriculum uses a conventional teacher-led classroom with daily instruction in Phonics, Reading, Language, Spelling Poetry, Writing, Arithmetic, and Bible.
Reading to Learn (ACE)
Once students have learned to read, they move up to our Learning Centers where we use the ACE (Accelerated Christian Education) curriculum. This curriculum is set apart from other educational programs by its emphasis on individualization, academic excellence, character building, and traditional values. This curriculum teaches children how to think, act, and live.
It is an individualized program which introduces children to concrete and abstract reasoning skills at appropriate age levels according to their maturation stages. ACE focuses not only on knowledge and facts, but also includes Biblical wisdom as a deliberate aspect of the learning process.
The ACE curriculum is set apart from other curricula by its combination of academics and methodology based on physiological development patterns and Bible principles. It provides mastery learning, critical analysis, conceptualization, cognitive reasoning, and teaches students to see life from God’s perspective.
Upon enrollment in the Learning Center, students are tested to discover their individual performance level in each subject. Their curriculum is then individually prescribed and assigned. At this point, students are taught to set daily goals and assume the responsibility for their own success.
The ACE program is Biblical in its core, an extraordinary educational approach, preparing students for tomorrow’s world while giving them traditional moral values that will last a lifetime.
